"LMS" is short for Learning Management System - also known as Course management system, Learning platform, Learning portal, or Online learning system. A LMS is a software application used to manage, document, track, report, automate and deliver educational courses, training programmes, materials or learning and development programmes. A LMS allows you to create, manage and deliver e-learning courses. A LMS is useful for companies of all sizes or public services (e.g. government agencies). A LMS can complement traditional training methods while saving the organisation time and money.
